WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is my passion! It develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit. Pilates is an exercise method designed to lengthen, strengthen and restore your body to balance.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PILATES?

  • Improves your posture
  • Improves your core strength. Core strength is about training the muscles that support the spine and is fundamental to the Pilates method. Core stability is important because it provides a protective muscular corset which will help to stabilise the spine. It also helps to prevent or reduce lower back pain.
  • Develops increased flexibility in the spine and aid pelvis and shoulder stabilisation
  • Improves joint health by increasing mobility and strength
  • Enables injury prevention and physical rehabilitation
  • Provides a safe and beneficial form of exercise for a wide variety of medical conditions, including Scoliosis, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis
  • Builds better balance and coordination, particularly for the elderly
  • Offers a safe and excellent form of exercise for pre and postnatal women
  • Compliments training for athletes
  • Improves quality of life on a daily basis for the rest of your life.

Personal Fitness

Whether you want to lose weight, tone up, improve flexibility - enhance your training or perhaps simply require the motivation and confidence in exercising safely - I can help you achieve your goal. We can have fun too!

Before beginning any programme, I offer a free consultation to discuss your health and fitness and to set appropriate goals. This is based partly around a questionnaire I will send you in advance and provides an opportunity for us to meet and agree a suitable programme to work to.

WHERE TO TRAIN?

You decide! If training in the gym is not for you why not take advantage of home training. An effective workout can be achieved in a small space. If the great outdoors is more your thing why not try outdoor training, it's an excellent option. Whatever you choose it's never too late to start.

What They say about me

“I was referred to Elaine by my GP following prolonged back problems. I had been taking stronger and stronger pain killers to manage the pain.
After regular sessions with Elaine I was able to become pain free, stronger and more mobile. Elaine’s technique enabled me to strengthen core muscles and exercise without fear of causing more damage.”
Carol Archer age 49

"At a time after my retirement when I was rapidly becoming a couch potato,
Elaine motivated and encouraged me to do a regular exercise programme.
As a result I have lost weight, lowered my blood pressure and cholesterol readings, have more energy, and enjoy every minute of my new life."

Gill Killick age 45

“Following a fall that injured my shoulder my physiotherapist recommended Pilates to help strengthen and stabilise my shoulder.
Elaine has been teaching me Pilates for over 2 years now and my shoulder has fully recovered. I'm generally stronger my balance has improved and I'm more flexible than I have been in years.”
Phyllis Clarke age 66
